Quality standards we run, in numbers
The specs below are our typical production settings — the same numbers our inline inspectors work from hourly. Program-specific values are fixed in writing at PO stage.
AQL sampling table (ISO 2859-1)
Final random inspection samples statistically. General Inspection Level II, single sampling, normal severity, AQL 2.5 for major defects — the industry default we quote unless your program specifies otherwise. Find the lot size, draw the sample, count defects against the accept/reject line: the decision is math, not negotiation.
| Lot size (pcs) | Sample size | Accept / Reject (AQL 2.5, majors) |
|---|---|---|
| 281 – 500 | 50 | 3 / 4 |
| 501 – 1,200 | 80 | 5 / 6 |
| 1,201 – 3,200 | 125 | 7 / 8 |
| 3,201 – 10,000 | 200 | 10 / 11 |
| 10,001 – 35,000 | 315 | 14 / 15 |
| 35,001 – 150,000 | 500 | 21 / 22 |
Critical defects: acceptance number 0 across all lot sizes. Minor defects typically run AQL 4.0; tightened/reduced severity and Level I/III variants follow the standard — your quotation attaches the execution version. Full method background: AQL inspection for bags, explained.
Craft control standards
Stitch density
Main seams run at 8 ± 1 stitches per inch on standard constructions; load-bearing seams keep stitch length uniform to avoid perforation weakening on coated fabrics.
Bartack reinforcement
Critical stress points are bartacked as standard: shoulder-strap anchors, handle roots, D-ring bases and side-pocket openings — the four locations that decide a warranty claim years later.
Fabric inspection (4-Point System)
Roll goods are graded on the ASTM D5430 4-point system before cutting: points per 100 square yards decide whether a lot ships to production or back to the mill.
Color & dye-lot control
Approved swatches are matched under a D65 light box; one purchase order runs one dye lot wherever roll quantity allows, and lot numbers trace every bag back to its roll.
Zipper qualification
Zipper batches are cycle-bench tested to the program tier (5,000 cycles promotional / 10,000 retail standard / 15,000+ premium), with pull-tab torque and plating adhesion checks.
Strap & seam strength
Strap anchors and finished seams are pull-tested to the construction spec agreed at PO stage; test values are recorded on the inline sheet, not asserted in emails.
Why we publish specs most factories keep vague:
In our August 2026 audit of 45+ bag-manufacturer websites, none published an inspection sampling table and under 8% stated any quality numbers at all. Buyers deserve to compare factories on standards, not adjectives — request the program-specific execution sheet with any quotation, and see how the timeline delivers it on the 45-day order journey.
